So far this month (1 to 16 October 2026), people checked 29,203 different UK numbers on GotMyNumber, 55,110 times in all. The community filed 578 reports about 472 numbers, and 66% of those reports described a scam.

This month is still running. The figures update every day until it ends.

When Britain checks unknown numbers

On an average day the busiest hour was noon. These figures don’t yet hold three of every weekday, so we don’t rank the days.This measures when people look up a number they don’t know, which is usually just after it rang.

How we count

  • Lookups are searches for a UK number on GotMyNumber, UK time, leaving out automated traffic and our own team.
  • Reports are published reports from the public. “People” counts each reporter once, using a one-way code made from their connection, not their identity.
  • A lookup shows when people check a number, not when the call was made, though the two are usually minutes apart.
  • Caller ID can be faked, so a reported number may not belong to whoever really made the call.
