Paste any UK number and we tell you what we know: what other people have reported about it, counted by person; which phone company Ofcom gave its range to; and whether a business has proved it holds the line. Looking up a number is free and needs no login.

Yes. Searching a number and seeing community reports costs nothing and never will. The one thing we charge for is checking a business’s list of phone numbers, and that is quoted before any work starts. A verified caller badge is planned but not on sale.

We don’t require an account and we never store your IP address. To count how many different people look a number up, we keep a one-way hash of it for 31 days, then delete it. We’re UK based, follow UK GDPR and don’t sell your data.

Not yet. We are working on mystery lookup: we would contact the number for you and ask who they are, and you would only hear back if they chose to answer. It is not built, and nobody is charged for it. You can join its waitlist.

It means a business has proved it controls the line, by a code sent to the number. Only then is it shown by name on the number’s page here. Verification opens with our SMS verification service; until then no number is shown as verified.

If a number is registered to a business that has not finished verification, we say it’s registered but we don’t show the name yet. That stops anyone registering as a bank or a government body and borrowing trust they haven’t earned. An unverified badge means not proven, never bad.

No. A call nobody reports leaves no record here, and a number used for the first time this morning has no history at all. A number with no reports is shown as exactly that: nothing reported yet. It is not a clean bill of health.

Open Report, enter the number, pick the type of call, and add any detail. Your report is added to the community record and helps warn other people.

It appears on that number's page straight away, as one person's account. The number joins the list of numbers several people have reported only once people on at least two different networks report it, an hour or more apart, or on three networks at any time.

It is possible, which is why a report is shown as one person's unchecked account and never as a verdict. One source can report a number once a day, repeat reports count as one person, and a number is listed only when reports come from different networks. If a report about your number is wrong, the privacy policy explains how to have it corrected or removed.

Not yet. When claiming opens it will cost £2.99, one-off: you prove the number is yours with a one-time code — texted to a mobile, or read out in a call to a landline, and its lookup page then shows it has been claimed. Looking a number up stays free. Leave your email on the claim page and we will tell you when it opens.

Under UK GDPR you can ask any company that holds your number what it has and ask it to delete it. The ICO explains how to make those requests. For marketing calls, registering with the free Telephone Preference Service makes unsolicited sales calls to your number unlawful.

Connections to the site are encrypted, database access is restricted so the public site can read only what it is meant to show, and we keep one-way hashes of IP addresses, never the addresses themselves. We are UK based and follow UK GDPR. GotMyNumber is run by Towpath Digital Ltd (company no. 16913912), registered in England and Wales.
