How it works

How GotMyNumber actually works.

Paste a UK number and we tell you whether it belongs to a verified UK business, what other people have reported about it, and whether it is a number on the Towpath network. No stale directories, no guessing.

What you get back

Three steps, no login.

01

Paste a UK number

Type or paste the number that called you. No login, no app, nothing to install. A lookup is free and always will be.

02

Read the verdict

We tell you whether it is a verified UK business shown by name, a registered business with the name withheld until it is verified, a personal number we keep private, or simply a number we do not know yet.

03

Report or claim

Flag a scam or nuisance call to warn the next person, or claim a number that is yours and control how it appears across the estate.

Why it is different

Trust you can actually check.

Verified first, never guessing

We only ever show positive signals. A business is shown by name once it has verified, so a self-registered number cannot borrow the trust of a name it has not earned. Absence of a badge is the only negative signal.

Consent-based, not scraped

GotMyNumber reads the same consent-based identity network as the rest of Towpath. The person owns their details; we never expose an individual's name on a public lookup.

British, free, GDPR-safe

No account needed, a lookup is not tied to you, and we follow UK GDPR. If a number is yours, you can claim it or ask who holds it through ClaimYourData.

The Towpath identity network

One number, one graph.

GotMyNumber reads the same consent-based identity graph as the rest of the estate. Each door is a different lens on the same record.

Coming soon

Ask the number directly.

We are building a way to send a polite SMS to an unknown number so they can identify themselves, with your own number never revealed and an easy opt-out for them. It is rolling out now, so for the moment you can join the waitlist.
